A non-profit society, running a hundred and seventy kilometres of trail

Larch Hills Nordic Society is a non-profit. Fees pay for grooming, lights and trails rather than for a margin — which is why the fee table matters more here than it would on a resort site, and why it is worth keeping current.

What it is

A non-profit society, in the hills above Salmon Arm

That is the whole legal description, and it does a lot of work. Nobody is taking a margin out of a membership. The 57 kilometres that get groomed, the 6.4 that stay lit and the 10.1 where a dog is welcome are all paid for by the people who use them.

The society does not publish a founding year, so this concept does not give it one. It does not publish a board, so no names appear here beyond the membership registrar, who is published in a contact role and is listed as one.

What that means for a fee

Membership money goes into grooming, fuel, lights and trail work. When you buy a family ski membership you are not a customer — you are the reason a groomer went out on a Tuesday night.

Celebrated by the society

Natalie Wilkie, 2026 World Para Biathlon Champion

The society celebrates Natalie Wilkie's 2026 world para biathlon title on its own site. It is reproduced here as the society states it, with nothing added — no race detail, no career summary, no claim about her connection to any particular trail beyond what the society itself says.

A world champion is not a news item that should scroll off the front page after a fortnight. On this concept it sits on the home page permanently.

Why there is no photograph

We will not put a stock photograph of a stranger beside a named athlete. There is no image on this section for the same reason there is no picture of the lit trails: a placeholder here would be asserting something about a real person.

On a real build the society would supply its own photograph, with its own permission, and it would be worth the whole width of the page.

Six things this concept does not claim

A concept redesign is easy to make impressive by filling the gaps with invention. These gaps are left open on purpose, and each one is a question worth asking the society.

  • A founding year

    The society does not publish one, so this concept does not print one anywhere.

  • A board or executive

    Only the membership registrar is published by name, and only in a contact role.

  • A grooming report

    Nothing on the current site says what was groomed today, so nothing here does either.

  • A trail map

    The map belongs to the society. We have not drawn a substitute or named a single trail.

  • Buildings or rentals

    No lodge, no wax room, no rental rates — none of it is published, so none of it appears.

  • Programs or lessons

    No schedule, no age bands, no coaching fees are published, so this concept lists none.

About this site

This is an unsolicited concept redesign built by JnP Studio. Nobody at the society asked for it, nobody at the society has approved it, and it is deliberately hidden from search engines. Every fact on it comes from the society's own published material at skilarchhills.ca; every photograph is a stock placeholder and carries a visible chip saying so.

If the society would like it taken down, or would like it finished properly before the next season opens, either is an easy conversation.
